How to do the DOUBLE CROCHET DECREASE (dc dec)

Decrease crochet stitches are often used to narrow part of an item you are crocheting. For example, if you are doing a sweater with long sleeves, the lower part of the sleeve will be narrower than the upper...or in the body of the sweater you may narrow it at the waist for a tailored fit.

There are many other applications for this easy stitch, in either single or double crochet.
